Nick McClimon - Veterinarian

Dr. McClimon has always had an affinity with animals and enjoyed caring for them but when he began working in a veterinary practice and realized the special character of pet owners it solidified his goal of becoming a veterinarian. As he put it, “Pet owners are a selfless group of people who make caring for animals even more rewarding.”

He graduated from Luther College in 1999 with a double major in Chemistry and Biology and then graduated with distinction from Iowa State University in 2003 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After a year in a multi-doctor general practice, he began practicing emergency and critical care medicine. This intensely challenging environment helped to hone his medical and surgical skills treating the most critically sick and injured pets. Although very stressful, he is proud of the years he spent supporting people and helping pets through some of the worst events in their lives. But the emotional and physical strain convinced him to return to general practice and wellness care, or as he said “Over 13 years of ER work I have seen just about everything twice but now look forward to keeping animals healthy and out of the ER.”

When Dr. McClimon was introduced to the Taylor Veterinary Clinic, he realized the opportunity Dr. Taylor’s retirement was creating and was honored to accept the torch of care.  Along with the great staff, he intends to continue the high standard of care and service that the Taylor Veterinary Clinic stands for and looks forward to building relationships with his new clients and patients.

Dr. McClimon is married to his beautiful wife Wendy and has two children. Addison, a third-grader at Spring Hill, and a 5-year-old son named Logan, who keep them busy with sports and activities. He enjoys running, biking, and woodworking, and looks forward to becoming more active in the Longview community. They have had a painful last year losing Belle, a 15-year-old black lab and Coco, a 19-year-old chinchilla, leaving only Amaya, their 12-year-old australian shepherd to love.

Johnette Barker - Head Veterinary Nurse

Johnette’s position defies a simple job title. 24 years ago, just out of college at Northwest Louisiana University studying dental hygiene, she came to TVC for a temporary receptionist job but fell in love with the profession and never left. She has grown to handle almost every job in the practice. Johnette has an incredible memory for names and loves all the precious friendships she has developed with our clients over the years. She exemplifies our goal of going above and beyond to serve our patients and clients. Outside of work Johnette enjoys cooking, reading, shopping and spending time with her husband Johnny and 17 year old son Taylor (the light of her life). She has the “sweetest most perfect dachshund” named Truffles, a pit-bull named Sadie, and a crazy german shepherd named Ghost. She enjoys watching movies and POPCORN …she has even been known to buy movie popcorn w/o staying for the movie!

Rhonda is our head receptionist and the first smiling face you meet when you visit. She started her veterinary career in Marshall prior to moving to Longview and joining the TVC. Over the last 10 years, she has also trained as a veterinary nurse and occasionally helps with patient care.  She is also our most digitally connected and is in charge of our online presence (social media goddess:). At home, she has a handsome pug named Aston and a snake called Saint. She has two adult children, Kristen and Brandon, and a beautiful grand-princess she loves spending time with. She enjoys going to the movies, the beach and camping. Her two favorite movies are an interesting combination…Grease and Tombstone.

Danna Martinez - Receptionist

Danna joined our team in January 2018 as a receptionist. She has lived in Longview her entire life and is a graduate of Longview High School. She is multilingual speaking English, Spanish, and Canine, which in addition to her kind demeanor make her invaluable to TVC. She loves spending time with her fur baby Ollie. In her spare time, she loves to eat, shop and spend time with friends and family. She also enjoys taking Ollie to the dog park to play with his friends.
