Owner/Veterinarian
Dr. McClimon graduated from Luther College in 1999 with a double major in chemistry and biology and then graduated with distinction from Iowa State University in 2003 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After a year in a multi-doctor general practice, Dr. McClimon began practicing emergency and critical care medicine. This challenging environment helped to hone his medical and surgical skills by treating the most critically sick and injured pets. Although very stressful, he is proud of the years he spent supporting people and helping pets through some of the worst events in their lives. But the emotional and physical strain convinced him to return to general practice and wellness care, or as he said, “Over 13 years of ER work I have seen just about everything twice, but now I look forward to keeping animals healthy and out of the ER.”
Dr. McClimon has always had an affinity for animals and caring for them, but when he began working in a veterinary practice and realized the special character of pet owners, it solidified his goal of becoming a veterinarian. As he put it, “Pet owners are a selfless group of people who make caring for animals even more rewarding.”
Dr. McClimon is married to his beautiful wife Wendy and has two children, Addison and Logan, both of whom attend Spring Hill and keep them busy with sports and activities. He enjoys running, biking, and woodworking. They share their home with 2 bunnies (Evie & Cosmo), Drake, a standard poodle cross, Tillie, a Yorkie cross and Winston, a buff tabby kitty cat.
